Athletic Training

Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC), Krista Iverson, faithfully serves the student-athletes at Emmaus University.  Mrs. Iverson seeks to provide medical services that include the prevention, recognition, evaluation, care, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries to Emmaus athletes.

Pre-Season Services
The athletic trainer coordinates with Emmaus athletic coaches and student-athletes to collect required pre-participation information, such as:

  • Physical Exam Forms
  • Proof of Insurance Form
  • EU Athletics Waiver and Emergency Contact Form
  • Consent to Treat Form
  • Concussion Acknowledgement Form
  • Concussoin IMPACT Testing

In-Season Services
The athletic trainer staff serves Emmaus' intercollegiate athletic teams and opponents.  Athletic training encompasses the prevention, prognosis, and intervention of emergency, acute, and chronic medical conditions involving both impairment and functional limitations (NATA.org).

Emmaus University athletic training focuses on the recognition, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of orthopedic injuries. Treatments offered in the Athletic Training Room range from hot/cold modalities (ice/heat packs), ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and therapeutic exercise, among others.

Athletic Training Room Facility
The Pollard Fieldhouse Athletic Training Room is located between the men's and women's locker rooms, accessible from the main gym and the lobby.

The training room is open from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday - Friday during the academic year.  Times may change during due to athletics events and the academic schedule. The facility features two rehab tables and various therapeutic modalities all designed to serve the athletic population at Emmaus University.

Health Insurance Requirement

  1. All Emmaus student-athletes must provide evidence of insurance that includes coverage for athletic related injuries. This is a pre-requisite for practice and competition.

  2. No student will be allowed to participate or practice in team activities, until such evidence of current insurance coverage is on file with the Emmaus Athletic Department. A copy of the student’s Health Insurance Card must be on file before a student can participate.

  3. Emmaus University will assume no responsibility whatsoever for the payment of, or authorization to pay, medical expenses resulting from injuries that occur while participating in intercollegiate athletic practices or events as a student-athlete at Emmaus University.

  4. If you have any questions regarding the terms of your coverage, contact your insurer immediately. Please be sure to note if there are any exclusions in your policy regarding athletic related injuries.

  5. The NCCAA’s Catastrophic Injury Insurance Program covers student-athletes who are catastrophically injured while participating in a covered intercollegiate athletic activity (subject to all policy terms and conditions). The policy has a $25,000 deductible. This coverage does not qualify as the basic coverage required for participating in athletics at Emmaus University. It is supplemental coverage in the event of a catastrophic injury

Note: Participation in a health share organization (e.g. Good Samaritan Ministries, Christian Healthcare Ministries, etc.) is accepted by Emmaus University as a form of insurance.
