Nationals Prep & PR's at Saga Cup
Decorah, IA | November 8, 2024 – The Emmaus University men's and women's cross country teams put forth strong efforts at the 2024 Saga Cup, held at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. While the team faced formidable competition, they demonstrated resilience and growth in their final race before Nationals.
Men's Race:
In the men's 8K race, the Eagles placed 7th overall with a total time of 2:32:57. The team was led by Matthew Hanselman, who finished in 74th place with a time of 28:46.2, His new PR, closely followed by Benjamin Driscoll (87th, 29:09.9), Caleb Ness (110th, 30:50.7), His new PR, Samuel Stapley (112th, 30:52.7), and Daniel Schuldt (119th, 33:18.1), His new PR. Despite tough competition from nationally-ranked teams, the Emmaus team showed strong determination and unity throughout the race.
Women's Race:
The Emmaus women's team faced a competitive field in the 6K race, securing 6th place with a total time of 2:35:47. Leading the charge was Kate Janzen, who finished 60th with a time of 27:31.9, followed by August Christensen (75th, 29:31.0), Bria Tuttle (78th, 31:33.0), Her new PR, Riley Rath (79th, 31:33.2), Her new PR, and Carolyn Rogers (84th, 35:38.3). Despite challenging conditions, the team showed significant progress and tenacity in a highly competitive field.
Up Next: Both teams will run on Friday, November 15, at Warsaw, IN, in the NCCAA DII National Championships.
