Men's and Women's Cross Country Season Recap!
National Qualifiers and Many Personal Records!
In one of, if not the most anticipated, Cross Country seasons in Emmaus history, after last year's success and the new signings during the Summer, the Eagle Runners delivered.
Both the Men's and Women's Cross Country teams qualified for Nationals and ran in Joplin, MO, back in November.
The Season started at the Bob Schultz Invite at the Dubuque Soccer Complex back in August, and while no one PR'ed, and it was the first run for the Freshmen, some of the runners automatically qualified for Nationals after the first race. As the season went on, everyone who finished the season qualified for Nationals at some point.
Then the Eagle runners continued with very strong seasons. Most runners achieved a new PR and/or had their best season yet.
For the Men: Nathan Bean PR'ed with a time of 30:08.2 at Nationals, Christian Vandekrol PR'ed with a time of 30:40 at Nationals, Isaac Sauer PR'ed with a time of 30:58.5 at Nationals, Daniel Schuldt had his season best of 32:12.2 at Nationals, while Veteran Senior Caleb Ness had his season best of 30:59 at Super Regionals at the Dubuque Soccer Complex.
For the Women: the season started with five runners but ended with three. Regardless, Senior Anna Coniglio held strong all season, consistently Emmaus' top runner at every race. She had her season best of 21:57.3 at the Super Regionals in Dubuque. Both Riley Rath and Lilly Holtan PR'ed and Qualified for Nationals at the Super Regionals in Dubuque: Rath had a time of 23:20.8, and Holtan had a time of 24:10.9.
In addition, Caleb Ness and Riley Rath earned the Scholar-Athlete Award, showing their excellence in the classroom and on the Course!
This was arguably the most successful season in Emmaus Cross Country History, especially on the Men's Side.
The expectations will be even higher next year, and many of our runners will return along with the inevitable signings over the offseason.
The Eagles thank you for your support throughout the season!
