Amelia Mackey Signs with the Eagles
Emmaus University is thrilled to announce the signing of Amelia Mackey from Morganfield, Kentucky, who has officially committed to continue her academic and athletic career with the Emmaus Eagles women's basketball team.
Coach Cunard noted his excitement in the newest addition to the program.
"Amelia is going to be a big addition to our team and school! She is coming in with a lot of experience playing at a high level at her last college. She fits perfectly into our already established Christ-centered culture. On the court she will instantly change the dynamic of our team on both ends of the floor."
the 5'6'' guard will be transferring from Bresica University where she played during the 2024-2025 season. A homeschool graduate in 2024, mackey played for the Evansville Racers out of Evansville, IN. Her older brother, Eli is currently on the men's basketball team.
"I am choosing Emmaus because I know that this is where the Lord has called me for the next chapter of my life," said Mackey. "I am super excited to be in a community of fellow believers studying the Bible. It is a very special college and you can feel the difference in the atmosphere when you step on campus."
Mackey has an impressive resume that includes tallying 8.0 points per game, 34.3% from beyond the arc, and an 82.5% free throw percentage at the college level. Her high school career was equally remarkable, averaging 27 points per game her senior year while leading in rebounds, steals, and assists. She was recognized with numerous honors, including MVP (2023, 2024), Teammate Award (2024), and 1,000 Point Club (2023). She also holds the record for most points in a game by an Evansville Racer with 47.
In addition to her on-court excellence, Amelia has demonstrated a deep commitment to faith and service. She leads worship at her youth group, volunteers for Vacation Bible School and Operation Christmas Child, and serves as an FCA leader at Brescia. Her passion for missions took her to the Navajo Reservation in Blue Gap, Arizona, with plans to return this summer.
"I am looking forward to learning more about the Lord in my Bible classes and also being part of the women's basketball team," Mackey shared. "I'm excited to play at Emmaus because I already feel like those on the team have welcomed me in as a part of their basketball family. I know we can do some great things on the court this season!"
