Eagles Split Opening Weekend
Dominated Trinity, just short of Providence
DUBUQUE, Iowa - November 7-8, 2025
Emmaus Women's Basketball tipped off the 2025–26 season with a dominant home win over Trinity Bible (N.D.) on Friday night before falling to a high-powered, frantic Providence University College team on Saturday at Pollard Fieldhouse.
Emmaus 90, Trinity Bible (N.D.) 44
The Eagles opened their season with a statement, defeating Trinity Bible 90–44 behind a balanced offensive performance and suffocating defense. Emmaus shot 42.5% from the field and 39.4% from beyond the arc, holding Trinity Bible to just 33.9% shooting overall.
Freshman guard Amelia Mackey had a spectacular debut, leading all scorers with 24 points, including 5-of-8 from three-point range (4-4 start!), while also dishing out seven assists. Hanna Kreiner added 16 points and four steals, while Aubry Silva contributed 18 points, three assists, and two steals.
Forward Rachel Barrett dominated the glass, posting a double-double with 12 points, 12 rebounds, and four blocks. Senior guard Erin McKenna anchored the offense with seven assists and four steals.
Emmaus outscored Trinity Bible 56–16 in the first half and never looked back, forcing 28 turnovers and converting them into 35 points. The Eagles' crisp ball movement was a highlight, as they tallied 23 assists on 31 made baskets.
Providence University College 100, Emmaus 72
On Saturday, Emmaus faced a tough test against Providence University College, who shot nearly 50% from the field in a fast-paced contest. Despite a strong first quarter, Emmaus couldn't keep up with Providence's depth and transition play.
Once again, Amelia Mackey led the Eagles with 25 points, going 15-of-18 from the free-throw line while adding six rebounds and five assists. Rachel Barrett recorded her second straight double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds, and Madeline Wiest provided a spark off the bench with 13 points on 3-of-8 shooting from beyond the arc.
The Eagles fought hard but were undone by turnovers (34) and Providence's balanced scoring attack that featured five players in double figures.
Emmaus finished the weekend at 1–1, showing promise under pressure and flashes of offensive firepower. They'll look to build on their opening win as they continue their early nonconference schedule next week.
Next up: Tuesday, November 11 (Veterans Day - Tomorrow at the time of publishing) The Lady Eagles travel to Watertown, WI to face Maranatha Baptist University at 5:00 PM.
