Eagles Hold Off Thunder 55-51
Eagles Improve to 4-2 in Breakthrough Season
ANKENY, Iowa, December 5, 2025 -- Emmaus University women's basketball picked up its fourth win of the season on Friday afternoon, grinding out a hard-fought 55–51 victory over Manhattan Christian College. The Eagles overcame cold shooting from deep and a second-half surge from the Crusaders, relying on defensive toughness and key late-game execution to secure the road win.
Emmaus was anchored by Amelia Mackey, who delivered a standout performance with 23 points, shooting 8-of-17 from the field and adding two steals. Mackey was at her best in crucial moments, scoring timely baskets to steady the Emmaus offense.
Fellow starter Aubry Silva added 13 points, knocking down six field goals and contributing three steals. Rachel Barrett was a dominant force on the glass, pulling down a game-high 19 rebounds to go with eight points and five blocks, controlling the interior on both ends.
The Eagles trailed 11–10 after the first quarter but responded with an 18-point second period to take a halftime lead they would not relinquish. Manhattan Christian closed the gap in the third, and the game remained tight until the final minutes. Emmaus' defense ultimately proved decisive, holding the Crusaders to just 27.7% shooting and only 3 made three-pointers.
Up Next: The Eagles travel to Minnesota to play the University of Northwestern (Minn.) Eagles on Saturday, December 13, 1:00 PM.
