Bio

Cody Cunard enters his first season as head coach of Emmaus Women's Basketball in 2024-25.

What are Emmaus Women's Basketball core values?

Two of the core values that I want our women’s program to embody are Excellence and Unity. As Christians, we want to strive for excellence in all that we do. Our aim is to bring glory to God with excellent preparation, excellent attitudes, and excellent effort. We want our relationships to point people to Jesus. We care about each other as people and as athletes. It is through our relationships that we can hold each other accountable and grow as people and basketball players.

We want to foster an environment where student athletes are challenged to grow physically and spiritually, but also free to make mistakes. We want to compete, have fun, and build lifelong relationships.

Why become an Emmaus Eagle women's basketball player?

If you love Jesus and love the game of basketball, Emmaus is a great place to be. Here, you will join an incredible community of like-minded believers, that are ready to compete at a high level. You will be challenged to grow as a person and as an athlete, but by coaches that love Jesus and want to see you succeed. The lessons you learn through collegiate sports will benefit you throughout the rest of your life. You will have experiences and build friendships that will last a lifetime.

Why are you coaching at Emmaus?

I am looking forward to impacting the lives of young women through the game of basketball. Coaching at Emmaus Bible College will give me the opportunity to unapologetically coach/mentor through a biblical perspective. I am excited to coach and recruit athletes that share a common mission of wanting to glorify God with every part of their lives.

What is a meaningful Bible verse to you?

John 3:30 - “He must become greater; I must become less.”

John the Baptist’s disciples came to him saying that everyone is now going to a guy named Jesus and getting baptized by him, but John knew his role. He knew that it was ultimately not about him, but he was just a man pointing others to Jesus. I strive to have this kind of humility. To live a life that points others to Jesus, without accepting any of the glory for myself.

I like the message of Colossians 3 from start to finish, it gives tangible ways that we are to conduct ourselves in our daily lives with the encouragement in verse 17 to “do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
