Eagles Race and Dutch Invitational

The Emmaus cross country teams competed Friday at the Central College Dutch Invite in Pella, IA, racing against a competitive field of NCAA and NAIA programs.

On the women's side, the Lady Eagles finished 7th overall, led by senior Anna Coniglio, who clocked a 23:06 for 32nd place. Junior Riley Rath followed in 26:53, while freshmen Aria Easton (27:06) and Jesse Suter (29:17) gained valuable collegiate experience. Sophomore Lillian Holtan rounded out the squad in 27:43, helping Emmaus post a team total of 201 points.

For the men, senior Caleb Ness led the Eagles with a 23:11 finish, placing 36th overall in the 6,000-meter race. Junior Christian Vanderkrol was close behind in 23:17, with freshman Nathan Bean crossing in 24:38. First-year runners Isaac Sauer (25:05) and Daniel Schuldt (26:10) completed the scoring lineup. Emmaus placed 7th as a team with 209 points

"The guys ran a rare 6k, where each of them ran a PR in the distance" commented coach Gerardy. "I was especially impressed with how Caleb and Christian ran the entire race together, and the men's team as a whole is really beginning to group up which demonstrates the closeness as the team as a whole and sets us up for success in the 8ks to come. The ladies battled through the tough course, some aches and pains, and demonstrated their grit and determination. Aria and Jesse both continue to drop time and the ladies are also beginning to form an exciting pack during their races."

Both teams are back at it on Septmber 20 at the Gil Dodds Invitational hosted by Wheaton College.
