Dubuque, IA, December 13 -- The Emmaus University Eagles fell to Blackburn College, 95–63, on Saturday afternoon inside Pollard Fieldhouse.
Blackburn set the tone early, shooting efficiently from the field (50 FG%, 55.2 3PT%), which is tough for any team to stop.
Emmaus showed resilience in the second half, playing much better and closer to their normal selves. Ethan Cox and Colyer Wingfield led the Eagles offensively with 14 points apiece. Wingfield added three rebounds and a steal, while Cox chipped in seven rebounds, four assists, and a pair of blocks. Nathaniel Wagner contributed eight points and a team-high eight rebounds, and Noah Simiskey added seven points off the bench.
The Eagles matched Blackburn with 33 rebounds, but turnovers and perimeter shooting proved costly. The Eagles shot 36.8 percent from the field and 24.0 percent from three-point range on the afternoon, but they shot much better in the second half!
Up Next: The Eagles will return after Christmas Break and host Union Adventist University on Thursday, January 8th, at 6:00 PM. Come out and support your Eagles!
