Emmaus Volleyball Caps Strong Weekend with Back-to-Back Sweeps
The Emmaus Eagles closed out an impressive weekend of volleyball with two decisive sweeps, defeating Central Christian College of Missouri (25–20, 25–17, 25–11) at home on Friday night before rolling past Maranatha Baptist University (25–17, 25–21, 25–15) on the road Saturday afternoon.
On Friday against Central Christian, Emmaus controlled the tempo from start to finish behind a balanced offensive effort and aggressive serving. Lindsey McIlveen led the attack with 10 kills and three blocks, while Kaitlyn Rahn added 8 kills, 11 digs, and 2 aces. Selah Gregory chipped in 9 kills, and setter Michelle Striley ran a crisp offense, tallying 25 assists and 4 aces.
Defensively, libero Jennika Beach anchored the back row with 15 digs, helping the Eagles hold Central Christian to a negative hitting percentage (-.051) for the match.
The momentum carried into Saturday's matchup at Maranatha, where Emmaus again dominated in straight sets. Rahn and Gregory each recorded 13 kills, combining for a stellar .446 hitting percentage. Alice Green was also efficient with 11 kills on .476 hitting, while Striley distributed 32 assists to lead the offense. Beach continued her strong defensive play with 24 digs, and McIlveen and Brooke Hodges contributed at the net with four total blocks.
Emmaus hit .248 as a team against Maranatha and posted 69 digs defensively.
